EFPA EMC 9/2016: Crowdfunding for EFPA Human Rights Expert meeting October 2016
Initiative of the Board Human Rights and Psychology for crowdfunding to organise an Expert meeting on Human Rights Education for Psychologists
www.humanrightsforpsychologists.eu
Dear colleagues,
” Recent events all over the world stress the importance of respecting Human Rights „
Armed conflicts cause millions of people to abandon their homes and to flee to safer locations under dangerous and often life threatening conditions.
Scholars in the field of psychology together with practitioners should use their experience and knowledge to the benefit of the world, in accordance with Human Rights.
So far, Human Rights and Human Rights education is not yet a standard subject in university programs for psychology, in postgraduate curricula, nor in requirements for Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
The EFPA Board Human Rights & Psychology considers the education of psychologists about Human Rights and their responsibilities towards individual persons and society a core issue.
Therefore the Board together with EIUC – the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation will gather around 25 experts in the field of Human Rights to an expert meeting in October 2016.
Since this event and its outcomes need to be self-financed, we are looking for financial support. Any amount is welcome and donors will have their name mentioned on the website if they want.
Please find more details in the letter attached.
At the last Presidents’ council meeting of May 27 in Istanbul, the presidents expressed their support for the initiatives of the Board Human Rights and we hope that this support will be visible.
Please forward this letter also to your members and working groups.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Best regards,
Polli Hagenaars, Convenor Board Human Rights & Psychology
Telmo Mourinho Baptista, President EFPA
